Urban Spectrum Youth Foundation, a Colorado 501(c)3 nonprofit
The Urban Spectrum Youth Foundation, established in 2000, has a mission of educating and preparing youth to participate in their communities through smart media consumption and journalism-related careers. For the first 15 years of the foundation, middle and high school students from the Denver metro area were offered multi-week workshops where they learned from professionals and community leaders about newspaper and media production. Since that time, the foundation has provided individual internships, seminars and other opportunities to teenagers who were seeking hands-on experiences and education about journalism including photography, social media, reporting, writing, and editing.
