On August 1, Denver came alive as the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation (BTAF) hosted its 3rd Annual Black Excellence Social — an evening of celebration, community, and purpose. Part gala and part tribute, the event honored trailblazing individuals and organizations within the Black community while raising vital funds to advance the Foundation’s mission.
About the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation
The Beta Theta Achievement Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing longstanding disparities in communities of color. Its work centers on three pillars: financial literacy, digital access, and community health—building pathways to opportunity where systemic gaps have too often stood in the way.
While BTAF’s reach extends broadly across the community, it supports a special commitment to empowering Black male college students across Colorado by supporting their academic success, providing financial resources, and championing their mental and physical well-being.
Rooted in the brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the members of the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation carry forward the fraternity’s core tenets of brotherhood, achievement, and community service. The Black Excellence Social embodies that mission: an evening where the Foundation not only celebrates its honorees but also reinvests in the work ahead.
“We created these awards because our Foundation is built on a deep, community-rooted commitment to service, leadership, and collective impact,” said Christian Williams, an officer of the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation. “By honoring these individuals, we hope to inspire lasting change—not only here in Denver, but across our community and beyond.”

“One of the reasons the Foundation exists is to recognize and celebrate outstanding leaders and grassroots organizations whose dedication and commitment continue to shape and strengthen the Denver community,” said Anthony Lee, an officer of the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation.
Following the awards presentation, the celebration continued late into the evening. Attendees mingled over hors d’oeuvres and drinks, exchanging stories and forging new connections. Music filled the room and drew guests to the dance floor, creating an atmosphere of joy, fellowship, and community that carried through the remainder of the evening.
“I look forward to this evening every year,” said the fashionable Monique Dinwiddie, wife of Cliff Dinwiddie of the Beta Theta Achievement Foundation. “It brings together such a beautifully positive community—one where people don’t just celebrate each other’s achievements but genuinely uplift one another.” Her words captured the spirit of an evening that brought together leaders, honorees, members, and supporters in celebration of Black excellence and the collective work being done to strengthen the Denver community.
