Each year, Denver Urban Spectrum recognizes individuals who are making a difference within Colorado communities and in the lives of others. After being nominated by their peers, a group of remarkable changemakers undergoes a rigorous selection process based on service impact and achievement.
This year, 12 men and women were selected from a group of 32 noteworthy nominees. In addition to their enormous efforts to affect positive change within their communities, they explained the motivation behind their civic and social engagement, provided suggestions for how to best address challenges facing the Black community and shared how they would like to be remembered.
These 12 African Americans Who Make a Difference will be honored at a celebratory Black History Month reception on February 27, at WellPower in Denver.
